This story reveals that the number of animals killed in the Charlotte region in the past year is more than double the national average. As per these investigations, the workers at these shelters don't require any prior training. The shelters are often over crowded and other ways of controlling the animal population such as spaying or neutering is also not common. As a result of these investigations, the state government decided to set up a committee to study the conditions of animal shelters in the area to try to find alternate means to reduce the state's high kill rate of the animals.
