The Busam family placed their retarded son, Joey, in the care of Catholic brothers at Good Shephard Manor, which the order operated in rural Ohio. Joey has since died of AIDS. U.S. News and World Report examines the circumstances that led to Joey's death as well as the family's consequent lawsuit against the Manor and the Catholic Diocese of Columbus. (March 11, 1996)
