WyoFile production editor

WyoFile serves Wyoming’s civic life with community-supported, nonpartisan, public-interest journalism. To support that mission, we’re looking for a production editor who will act as our lead copy editor and chief newsroom process manager. Circulation: 21k+ newsletter subscribers and 50+ state and regional publications rely on WyoFile reporting.

Responsibilities:
● Copy edit WyoFile stories, columns, partner articles and republications
● Manage and execute all aspects of daily newsroom story production, publication, promotion and distribution including:
○ Laying out stories and newsletters while helping to develop additional newsletter products
○ Coordinating multiple reporters and editors through simultaneous, multi-step production processes to maximize efficiency and minimize bottlenecks (i.e. keep the trains running on time)
○ Help refine and continually improve WyoFile’s systems
○ Assist with social media posts.

The ideal candidate will have:
● Strong command of AP Style and English grammar
● Exceptional organization, relentless attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple competing demands on deadline
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● A talent and affinity for consumer-centric design
● A positive attitude and assertive demeanor
● Curiosity and a drive to teach yourself new skills
● The ability to anticipate the needs of the newsroom
● Familiarity with graphic design, photography and data visualization is a plus.

The details:
Start date: January 2026
Salary range: $65-75K, depending on experience
Reports to: Managing editor
Location: Wyoming preferred, but remote candidates with prior Equality State experience will be considered. Depending on location, this role could be office-based, home-office-based or a hybrid.
