Our investigation revealed that a prominent professor at Princeton, known to be a gatekeeper to his field and a mentor to young students, crossed ethical and professional boundaries with multiple female undergraduate students, including a sexual relationship with an advisee, “repeated boundary violations” with another student, and an off-campus date with a third. The relationship explicitly violated University rules in place at the time. Years after the alleged events, the professor took an unusual leave of absence — which, as we reported in a follow-up story, was an unpaid suspension linked to the sexual relationship.
