Description

In the film “Breakdown: The Frontline Response to the Mental Health Crisis” KSLA chronicles how mental health resources are drying up in Northwest Louisiana while record numbers of people are being diagnosed with mental illnesses. As a result, police officers and paramedics are getting called daily to serve as “street psychologists” with little training in dealing with the mentally ill. In 2020, the issue became headline news when three men suffering psychiatric episodes died in police custody.
