Leaders in St. Tammany Parish have always tried to portray themselves as being tough on crime. That includes the current sheriff. Randy Smith was elected Sheriff of St. Tammany Parish in 2015. But our stories showed his department might have a different definition of being tough on crime. And might not understand the laws of our country – you’re innocent until proven guilty.
