New York (NY) Magazine takes a look at the conditions inside Rikers island prison. The powerful article chronicles the story of how the inmates run the jail and how correctional officers are frightened and intimidated by the inmates. The attempts by the Guiliani administration to cut funds to the prison system and to increase the number of inmates is not seen as an antidote by those who work in the system.
