A Washington Post reporter spent four years interviewing and observing the life of a woman in Washington; the eight-part series examined how historical racism dating back to sharecropping, poverty, illiteracy, drug use and crime impacted her family and through the family's history, the series shows how some of Rosa Lee Cunningham's family is mired in extreme poverty and criminal recidivism.
