Description

The Boston Globe examines court cases in which scores of doctors were being sued repeatedly over ten years; found that nearly all the doctors are still practicing without being penalized. Some of the cases involve people going into comas after giving birth, deaths, and hospitals and doctors who deny responsibility. As a result of the series, the Massachusetts Medical Society is sponsoring legislation that will require public access to a doctor's past problems, patients will be able to find out if a doctor has had his privileges restricted or revoked, and patients will have access to a doctor's malpractice and suit settlement history.
