The Los Angeles Times reports that "Police stations have become battlegrounds where parents transfer children for court-ordered visits. Officers decry being used as referees when disputes turn ugly.... For about a decade, attorneys, family court mediators and judges have turned to police stations as a last resort for parents who can't seem to swap the kids peaceably. As rancorous divorces, domestic violence, substance abuse and child abuse have skyrocketed, so have the police lobby exchanges..."
