Description

Rick Butler built the nation's best girls' volleyball program in west Chicago, landing scholarships for more than 100 athletes and a spot for himself on the short list of possible Olympic coaches. But now allegations that he sexually abused three star players may have spiked his career. Chicago magazine investigates how Butler manipulated girls under his coaching supervision, inviting them to hotel rooms, forcing them into sex and threatening loss of future scholarships if they resisted. (February 1996)
