Description

According to the University of Montana School of Journalism, virtually every Native American has been incarcerated or has a close relative who has been. The University investigates Montana Indian's encounters with the criminal justice system and finds problems created by alcohol, poverty, depression and discrimination. The series looks at Indian leaders' struggles to find ways to allow their people to live productively in a white man's world, but still hold close those traditions that set them apart as people.
