Description

This package of stories investigated which special interests spent the most on gifts and receptions for lawmakers in the 1995 Maryland General Assembly. Its major finding was that special interests spent roughly $400,000 on "special events" during the '95 session -- events that would have been exempted form Maryland reporting requirements under a bill before the legislature at the time. The package also detailed the array of valuable gifts that individual lawmakers received form such interests that year.
