"In an eight-month investigation, (Primetime) found some residents of state institutions for the mentally ill being repeatedly physically threatened, documents which verified a long history of abuse, photographs showing the effects of years of neglect, and criminal records which proved some employees were operating in one facility even after they had been arrested for various charges, and employees allowed to stay on the job despite being investigated for abuse or after being fired from abuse from another institution." Using hidden cameras, Primetime "documented in Tennessee three women actively abusing clients, one women being force fed, the disregard for a young girl while she tries to sleep and in Oregon, a young man who is left for hours alone."
