Description

Naomi Shepard lost her family in circumstances that spiraled out of her control. On November 29, 1988, an explosion killed six Kansas City firefighters near 71 Highway. Shepard's two sons and a grandson were indicted in the case. Now, eight years later, she tells a Kansas City weekly that her sons have "concrete proof" that they are innocent. Recounting a long history of racism, poverty and hardship, Shepard gives her family's side of the story.
