Description

Former Governor Fife Symington's appointment of a political aide with no police experience to head the state police force angered many rank-and-file officers. Then Symington ordered the appointee to promote one of Symington's security guards to oversee daily operations at the 2,000 person agency. Money for narcotics investigations soon dried up. Meanwhile, Symington was using the state police plane for personal vacations.
