At the end of July, the Missouri Coalition for the Environment invited the Democratic and Republican candidates for the state's US Senate seat to debate each other on major environmental issues. The Democrat, Missouri Attorney General Jeremiah "Jay" Nixon, accepted. The Republican incumbent, Christopher "Kit" Bond, never called back. Kit Bond's voting record on environmental issues could hardly be worse. And his monetary relationship with polluters couldn't be better.
