Description

Fortune tells the story of Michael Adams-Conroy, a 9-year-old boy with a variety of mental disorders who died of a Prozac overdose. Following his death, authorities arrested Michael's parents on suspicion of overdosing the boy. An investigation by medical experts revealed, however, that Michael had a defective gene that prevented his body from fully processing the chemicals found in Prozac. A DNA tragedy reveals that Michael's death and the deaths of many others from adverse drug reactions could have been prevented if doctors would utilize new technology that helps them map out an individual's genotype.
