Boston Magazine profiles Scott Bedard, "a career criminal" who has been released one year after his conviction, "thanks to Massachusetts' notoriously weak criminal system." The story details how, a few year after his premature release, Bedard murdered a janitor who accidentally met "the drunk and angry burglar" during a routine cleanup in an office building in Las Vegas. The report finds that the system that has "lost track of a violent felon" is indirectly responsible for the crime.
