Description

Cardinale examines how certain law enforcement agencies investigate accidents involving other officers. Taking a look at the Polk County Sheriff's Office, he found that sheriff's deputies often investigate crashes and accidents involving other deputies. The Ledger's investigation found that deputies were involved in 205 traffic accidents while on duty during the year 2000. While many deputies were not cited for traffic violations they were able to be disciplined by their agency.
