Description

In "Tower by Tower" and "The Zones of Death", Newsday analyzed information for more than 2,000 people who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks to illustrate where, within each of the World Trade Center towers, those deaths occurred. The graphic illustrates that those who were on or above the floors where the planes hit were doomed. In "The Children Left Behind on Sept. 11," which accompanied the tower graphic, Newsday tells the story of children who lost parents in the attacks. An analysis revealed that at least 3,051 children -- including roughly 2,172 minors -- lost a parent in the terrorist attacks on the towers.
