A series of stories examining "why justice is so slow in Leon County, Florida, with hundreds of felony cases--a quarter of the county's caseload--languishing unresolved, often long past the state's recommended 180-day deadline for completion. The investigation showed all the players--including defendants angling for better deals, lawyers engaged in gamesmanship and judges granting continuance after continuance--were guilty of bogging down the system.
