There are many prices when it comes to generic drugs: retail price, Average Wholesale Price, the price insurance companies pay, and the price pharmacies pay wholesalers. They discovered that the Average Wholesale Price is inflated. A pharmacy can buy 100 of the generic Prozac for $4, but they usually sell it for anywhere between $12 and $226.
