In this investigation by the Detroit News, the reporters found design flaws and safety omissions by gun manufacturers that have caused fatalities in the past. According to this report thousands have been killed or maimed due to the lack of safety regulations maintained by the manufacturers.The dangers of these firearms has been kept a secret for a while, with the help of the Congress and the National Rifle Association. As this investigation reveals, the flaws in some of the firearms could have been rectified for just 35 cents. After this report was printed, it caused drastic public reactions and outrage.
