Using public records and FOIA this reporter investigated a nursing home, the Hillside Health Center. Working on a tip from Germaine Morsilli, who was being treated at the health center, the reporter uncovered that the nursing home had no funds but was allowed to continue services. After the first few stories were published, the Health Department ordered an investigation by the state officials and the lieutenant filed the "The Germaine Morsilli Act" that would require states to monitor the funding of nursing homes.
