The Arizona State Hospital, or ASH, treats roughly 230 patients. It's Arizona's only public behavioral health facility and a last resort for the state's most severely mentally ill and the criminally insane. We've aired more than a dozen stories that have focused on a complete lack of safety, security, treatment and care inside the hospital. It's a place so dangerous that a national expert told us, “The situation is a disaster. (It's) a terrifying, frightening, humiliating, embarrassing, uncomfortable, dangerous disaster.”
