Time Magazine studies the case of Gregory Aller, a schizophrenic who volunteered for a UCLA research program; medication given at the UCLA clinic caused Aller to get better but its controlled withdrawal made him get far worse; doctors refused to put him back on the medicine, spurring criticism that he suffered unnecessarily for the sake of science.
