Summary The Miami Herald examines the state of crime and punishment in Dade county. The series found that the rates of imprisonment in the county were much lower than in other parts of the country. After the series, changes occurred in the Dade county criminal court with more felons being sent to state prison, private attorneys volunteered their services to work as deputy prosecutors for free, and a drug court program that released inmates has been eliminated.
