Description

WSB-TV investigates into "allegations that the sheriff of Dekalb County, who ran Georgia and metro Atlanta's largest sheriff's department, was using on-the-clock sheriff's deputies and detention officers to staff positions for his private insurance company." The series details the accusation that the sheriff has been sending the officers "to banks that were contracted to receive security from the sheriff's private insurance company...." "The story also took an unexpected and tragic turn when on December 15 the sheriff elect, Derwin Brown, was murdered, authorities say assassinated, in front of his Dekalb County home, two days before he would taken his oath as ... sheriff." This series does not report on the murder, as it was disclosed as late as early in 2001.
