IRE announces winners of Total Newsroom Training Fellowships

Three journalists have been awarded Total Newsroom Training Fellowships for IRE’s data analysis boot camp in January.

The fellowship is offered to alumni of the TNT program, which provides intense, in-house training for small and medium-sized newsrooms dedicated to watchdog journalism.

TNT alumni are still encouraged to apply for three remaining fellowships for the boot camp in March.  The fellowships cover much of the cost of attending IRE's week-long data training sessions in Columbia, Missouri.

“We’re impressed with how journalists from small and medium newsrooms use their TNT training to produce stories that make a real difference in communities across the country,” IRE Executive Director Doug Haddix said. “We’re thrilled to welcome more journalists into a program focused on sharpening watchdog and data skills for storytelling.”

Congratulations to the newest fellows:

  • Amy Mayer, Iowa Public Radio
  • Jim Malewitz, Texas Tribune
  • Allie Spillyards, WIS-TV
