Meet the 2025 IRE Board candidates

Eight candidates are running for six seats up for election this year on the 13-member IRE Board. Three candidates are in the running for two seats on the IRE Contest Committee. Voting by eligible members will begin June 3 and close June 21 during the IRE25 Conference in New Orleans.

Voting is open to members whose membership is current through July 1, 2025, and whose member type is Professional, Academic, Student or Retiree. Associate members do not have voting privileges. Click here to learn more about the election.

Announcing the 2024 IRE Awards

Congratulations to winners and finalists in the 2024 IRE Awards!

Since 1979, the IRE Awards have recognized outstanding watchdog journalism. The IRE Contest Committee selected this year’s winners from more than 540 entries.

Awards will be presented at the 2025 IRE Conference in New Orleans on Saturday, June 21.

IRE board to meet in New Orleans

The IRE Board of Directors will meet during the IRE25 conference on Thursday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at the New Orleans Marriott, 555 Canal Street, in Studio 6 on the second floor of the hotel.

Members in good standing who won’t be at the conference in person can attend this meeting via Zoom by registering online. The event requires a ticket but there is no cost for the ticket.

The agenda will include the proposed budget for FY26, a proposed endowment policy, an update on the 50th anniversary gala planned for September and committee reports, among other items.
