Post-CAR Conference sale in NICAR data library

Fresh out of CAR 2013 and itching for data to work with? The NICAR database libarary is offering discounts on popular federal databases to help you get started. The data library updates databases on a variety of topics. You can explore our data by searching for a specific database, or looking for data by topic or by agency.

Here are the databases we're offering at a discount:

$50 for SBA disaster loan data
Recently updated to include Hurricane Sandy! Track money provided to businesses and homeowners for disaster losses. A large database with more than a million records and multiple tables. It has been used to uncover waste and fraud in the wake of disaster, like this New York Daily News investigation of loans after 9/11.

$30 for state-level HMDA data
Access a state slice of home loan applications that includes demographic information about applicants and whether the loan was approved.Size depends on the state selected, has multiple tables. It has been used to discover groundbreaking stories like Pulitzer Prize-winning "The Color of Money".

$20 for federal firearms data
Access all federally approved gun dealers in the U.S. that includes stores, rifle clubs, museums and individuals who want to own guns that require an ATF permit. A great database for CAR beginners that can be used to track firearms and add context to breaking news stories.
