WFMJ-TV finds that a hospital was releasing medical records to an attorney who would them alegedly have workers call and solicit social security business. The information released, contained confidential information such as the patient's diagnosis. Records obtained by WFMJ-TV contained diagnosis such as HIV, alcoholism, and intentional drug overdose. According to the American Health Information Management Association, the Health Care Financing Agency and experts in medical law, this is a violation of federal and stat statutes. (July 29, 30, 1995)
